2020 Chester County Turkey Trot

Plan on a festive Thanksgiving holiday weekend and help raise funds to support childhood cancer research at the Chester County Turkey Trot 5k Run/Walk.

The 19th Annual Chester County Turkey Trot is definitely happening!! Due to concerns with gathering a large crowd during this pandemic, this year’s event is going to be an awesome VIRTUAL 5K race/walk instead! Although we might not be able to BE together this year, the tradition of this annual event can still bring us TOGETHER for a great cause! So, gather your friends and family around the world,

pick a time, anytime from Thanksgiving, November 26, 2020, to Sunday, November 29, 2020, and CONNECT (at least virtually) with as many people as you can!
Look for upcoming info about RaceJoy, a new app we’ll be using to provide an enhanced race experience with real-time interactive experiences for participants and “spectators”!
The course is…you guessed it…wherever you want it to be! We understand that courses will vary, so pick one that suits you! 5K participants will have the ability to enter their 5K time (optional, but be honest!) for a little fun competition!
Walkers can choose their own time/distance.
FUNDRAISE

About that last thing…You will notice that this is a “free” race this year. (What’s that you say? Free?…wait a minute…) Yes, free to register. However, as this is typically the ONLY fundraiser for the Downingtown West Cross Country team and a MAJOR one for their partner, the Cure4Cam Childhood Cancer Foundation, we still need your help! Children with cancer need your help. With a large proportion of in-person events canceled this year, funding for childhood cancer research will be down unless organizations like Cure4Cam can continue to support, with your help, promising research projects across the country. Yes, you will be asked to “fundraise” and, although fundraising is not required to participate, we ask you to carefully consider making a donation to one/both of these causes as well as pass the word on to family and friends so they may partner with us as well. After all, whether you knew it or not, even our in-person event is a fundraiser supporting both the XC team and Cure4Cam!

All donations to Cure4Cam go to fund valuable childhood cancer research. This race has raised over $300K for childhood cancer research to date. Information on Cure4Cam is available at www.cure4cam.org. The Cure4Cam Childhood Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by family and friends in memory of Cameron Evans, a teammate, and friend who lost his battle with leukemia in May 2012. Cameron was a gifted athlete and a compassionate, positive, and inspiring young man. His perseverance and spirit touched all of us.
