After a year in the virtual realm, the Chester County Turkey Trot tradition is BACK!! Now in its 20th year, there’s still nothing better than spending time with friends and family on Thanksgiving Day! With in-person and virtual options, we are excited to be trotting again!
Get a festive start to your Thanksgiving morning and help raise funds to support childhood cancer research at the Chester County Turkey Trot 5k Run/1mile Walk through Cure4Cam!
This 20th annual Chester County Turkey Trot celebration will be held on Thanksgiving morning, November 25, 2021, at Downingtown West High School! The event is a 5k race, a 1-mile walk, and a kids’ fun run. There’s no better way to start this holiday morning!! Historically, this race gets an impressive turnout of about 3,000 registered runners and we anticipate a terrific resurgence in numbers of seasoned trotters and new friends this year.
Due to some continued COVID limitations, this year’s race will be run on the campus of Downingtown West High School. The course is flat and incredibly FAST! The course starts at Downingtown West High School, navigates through the middle and high school campus grounds, and finishes inside of Kottmeyer Stadium. IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS YEAR’S 5K RUN EVENT WILL GO OFF IN 2 WAVES (ELITE & BLUE). THE WALK IS AT 9:05 AND THE KIDS’ RUN IS AT 8:55. PARKING NEEDS TO BE OFF-SITE, SO PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY! A virtual option for participation will remain to include family and friends who cannot be here in person. In the event a viral surge forces a PA state or federal mandate to be issued, organizers reserve the right to alter or cancel the event in compliance with the mandate. In-person registrations will be converted to virtual. NO refunds will be issued.
7:45 AM 5k Elite Wave (400 Runners) – pace less than 23 Minutes
8:15 AM 5K Blue Wave
8:55 AM Kids’ Run on the Track
9:05 AM 1 Mile Walk (Separate Course)
Technical running shirts are guaranteed to the first 1,000 registered runners! (No T-shirts for free kids run or virtual participants)
In addition to supporting the Downingtown West Cross Country team, proceeds of the race will benefit the Cure4Cam Childhood Cancer Foundation. Information on Cure4Cam is available at www.cure4cam.org. The Cure4Cam Childhood Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by family and friends in memory of Cameron Evans, a teammate, and friend who lost his battle with leukemia in May 2012. Cameron was a gifted athlete and a compassionate, positive, and inspiring young man. His perseverance and spirit touched all of us.
